MUNICIPAL CHIEF EXECUTIVE MEET TRANSPORT UNIONS

The Municipal Chief Executive of the Agona West Municipal Assembly, Hon. Evans Coleman Addison and Management of the Assembly headed by the Municipal Coordinating Director Mr. Ishmael Nana Ogyefo on Tuesday 4th May 2021 met with Executives of the various Transport Unions and transport Operators within the Agona West Municipality. The meeting was part of the Hon. Municipal Chief Executive’s meeting with stakeholders of the Assembly after his assumption of duty. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss measures to reduce Vehicular Traffic in the Municipality and the operations of the various Transport Unions. Present at the meeting were Hon. Evans Coleman Addison (Municipal Chief Executive), Ishmael Nana Ogyefo (Municipal Coodinating Director), Pobi Donkor ( Municipal Finance Officer), Daniel Oscan Kyeremateng ( Municipal Budget Analyst), Martin Twumasi (Municipal Urban Roads Engineer), Luqman Ali (Deputy Director), Acquah Yaw ( Assist Director), and Executives of the various Transport Unions in the Municipality. DECISIONS TAKEN
The following decisions were taken at the meeting.
I.
Drivers who park and load at unapproved places will be made to pay a spot fine.
II.
The Assembly should collaborate with Nananom and Transport Unions to embark on decongestion exercise at certain places in Swedru.
III.
Daily morning loading at the entrance of Metro Mass Transit Terminal at Texaco ends at 7.a.m.
IV.
Sensitization of the general public against the operations of floating drivers and the sanctions attached.
V.
Offloading of goods by shop operators should not be done on market days.
CONCLUSION
MCE assured members that he will ensure that the Municipality is devoid of traffic Congestion. He further requested for the support of the various stakeholders in developing the Municipality. He also promised to see to the implementation of all the decisions taken.
