INTERACTION WITH LEAP BENEFICIARIES

7TH JULY 2023

As part of efforts to assess the recent LEAP Cash Grant payment made, the Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty Programme (LEAP), under the Ministry of Gender, Children & Social Protection with the help of the Department of Social Welfare and Community Development, has held an engagement with some beneficiaries in Agona Swedru.

The purpose of the event was to interact with LEAP beneficiaries and discuss related matters following the recent combined LEAP payments (65th & 66th cycle payments) beneficiaries received before due time.

Additionally, beneficiaries received the recent payment with some stipend to help them cater for transportation fare, buying of face masks, sanitisers and soaps.

The initiative by the LEAP Programme seeks to ease the stress of beneficiaries going for their monies at banks and support them as well.

Addressing the beneficiaries, the Minister for Gender, Children & Social Protection, Hon. Lariba Zuweira Abudu urged them to follow keenly on all the precautionary measures outlined for receiving their LEAP allowances.

According to the Minister, old age people form a greater portion of the LEAP beneficiaries.

Therefore, it was imperative that they make crutial effort to stay safe.

She seized the occasion to sensitise beneficiaries on every safety protocol to observe in order to stay safe from the corona virus.
